Under her professional name Jennifer Bowes, Jenny published two co-authored books with Oxford University Press, Men, Women and Household Word (1984) and Children, Families and Communities: Contexts and Consequences (new editions in 1999, 2004, 2009, 2012).

Men, Women and Household Work

Jenny worked with Jacqueline Goodnow to report on Australian couples’ sharing of household work and the psychology behind the arrangements they made.

Children, Families and Communities is an edited collection of scholarly essays on the influence of context on children’s development and the influence of children on their families and communities. It is used as a text in over twenty Australian Universities for courses in Education, Social Work and Nursing.

Under her professional name Jennifer Bowes, Jenny developed the book proposal and edited as well as wrote chapters for the first four editions of Children, Families and Communities. She is second editor for the sixth edition published in October 2022.
